From the transparency of light to the thickness of the color In the second half of the nineties, during my studies in the Department of Engraving, Division of Animation and Book Art... The name of Yasser Gaessa was well-known and his artistic achievement was popular. Just titles that carried seriousness, prestige, and a hint of peacock pride...The name of Yasser Gaessa remained for me as a trademark in the field . ... I did not imagine that Gaessa would one day become a companion & close friend to me, and how is this? Each of us is on the path of being a professional in caricature and journalistic drawing, while I am a professional in graphic design and Arabic calligraphy...For this to happen, we had to meet on the surface of the canvas loaded with the experiences of the different path that was abandoned voluntarily. Gaessa's artistic journey is loaded with layers of knowledge & unique human experience... full of situations and events...filled with eyewitnesses and eminent names in the journalistic, artistic and cultural field in general... Gaessa clashed with plastic art from the place of watercolors, this delicate and sensual material...which requires mastery of expression with experience and know-how that does not accept compromise...the nature of drawing and painting in watercolors needs an artist who has decision-making and is good at managing time...a bold artist…Presented... decisive... material that chooses its owners... carefully. Gaessa displayed his capabilities in the early stages of his artistic performances In drawing and photographing flowers, animals, streets and lanes With the experience of a book maker…and the passion of a skilled storyteller who surprises the scene to write down with his brushstrokes that look like bullets…the power of color…or the overflow of light or light…and sometimes he celebrates the darkness… Gaessa is a spectacle artist…he is fluent in the painting-making protocols, a skilled builder who respects the literature of composition and light in painting…he favors painting with color… Alexandria Zaman In the winter of 2020, Gaessa presented himself in the use of oil colors for the first time...in an exhibition in which he dealt with a reworking of old photographs of the most important landmarks of the city of Alexandria in the 1940s and 1950s..This show includes several levels of visual shock for the followers of the visual artist's project...In terms of his decision to use oil colors...and the theme of the paintings that belong to what is known as the cityscape or the external views of cities and urbanization...and the paintings are devoid of the heroism of the human body as an ever-present element in the works of Gaessa by a journalist painter, cartoonist, or book artist... in addition to the decision to draw from Photographs, which in the academic mind is considered an artistic derogation. 6 Gaessa says of this experience ...
